In 2015, I graduated from university and participated in an interview with China Southern Airline with a trying attitude. I didn't expect to pass all the processes smoothly. So without thinking much about my future plan, I went into the civil aviation career, stayed in Guangzhou, and began to work with “wings”. It was also from this point on, I started to plant the seeds of wanting to be a Chinese teacher in my heart. In the two years of flying, I have passed 5 continents, 21 countries and over 100 cities. I was saying hellos and goodbyes to various people on an incredible base. The intensive travels gave me a chance to enjoy the scenery around the world in a short time, but there was not enough time for me to slow down and enjoy different cultures.

I still remember this one time during my flights to London, I was standing in front of a Tang San Cai Vase (a type of tri-colored glazed pottery from Tang Dynasty) in the British Museum. A tottering old lady came to me and asked, "are you Chinese?" After that, she began to tell the story of Tang San Cai with excitement. What she said was very interesting, many of which were things that I had never heard of from a different perspective. For the first time, I really felt the charm of Tang San Cai. In the old lady's narration, the three colors were no longer empty and tedious "treasures of Chinese culture and crystallization of working people's wisdom" like I had learn from history books. It's a work of art with flesh and blood that can touch people. She told me that she specializes in Chinese porcelain. The story of Tang San Cai was interesting. I think her story with Tang San Cai and China should be more interesting, but I couldn't hear more from her because I needed to catch the flights. I have always been arrogant to think that as a Chinese, we have natural advantages and obligations to introduce Chinese culture to others, but I did not expect that we would have improved our cultural aesthetics from one foreign lady. Culture is universal and it belongs to the world. I really wish that I could have more time to listen to her stories and to approach these Chinese culture lovers and hear more interesting opinions from them. So after meeting up with this lady, I finally decided to apply for a master's degree in Chinese International Education and went to Hong Kong to study.

After my master graduation, I came to the Yunnan University of Business and Management, joined the International College, and became a teacher of teaching Chinese as a foreign language with honors. I have met many students from all over the world. We are learning Chinese together, and they always bring me a lot of surprises. Compared to a cultural “speaker”, I would like to be a “listener” and listen to their stories and their Chinese journeys from different cultural backgrounds. To see a corner of the world through a “Hello” from others.
